Using the two Coffey stills at the Miyagikyo distillery, which were imported from Scotland to Japan in 1963, Nikka have produced a number of single cask single grain whiskies from time to time over the years. This, however, is their larger release of wonderfully exotic grain whisky. Now in a 70cl bottle! Hooray!
Bourbon-like vanilla and corn notes with a herbal hint of chamomile.
Sweet, fruity flavours of melon, grapefruit and thick syrup, balanced by crunchy biscuits and fresh vanilla.
The corn notes, sweet and vibrant, last on the finish.
Fans of grain whisky should be pretty happy with this, as well as bourbon lovers.

I am not an expert in whiskey, but the reviews here + a few YouTube reviews convinced me to try. I live in Japan and the bottle was on sale. Amazing. Smooth, slightly sweet, and flavors I’ve never tasted in a whiskey. Worth the price.
Nose was rather full mainly with notes of brown sugar and lemon zest also cereal and vanilla. Fumes can be a tad overpowering at first so I'd say let it breathe a moment. Palate definitely has notes like a bourbon at first, caramel and vanilla. But then to my delight citrus came flying through, giving it a fresh feel. The finish is quite lean, more notes of brown sugar, toffee and vanilla. It has an easy burn that picks up strength afterwards. It is a pleasant dram, I like the idea of a bourbon-like whisky that has balancing notes of cereal and that delightful citrus. I still think Nikka Coffey Malt is more enjoyable personally. Let it breathe after pouring or decant it if you are brave. Also, "Coffey" is the name of the still, nothing to do with coffee.
Oh my, I taste corn, but this ain't like the bourbon I remember from my almost mispent youth. This whisky is f×cking amazing.
Reminiscent of a good (legal) moonshine such as Stillhouse at the first taste. Later, the vanilla comes out and I thought I was drinking an añejo rum. Recommend a few drops of cold water to open it up. Delicious!
Sweet, thick and lasting vanilla taste. Love it.
