Combining a splendid blend of single malt whiskies, Naked Malt is allowed to mature in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks. The name refers to the fact that the casks have never held whisky before, meaning that all that rich, fruity sherry goodness is imparted straight into this tasty blend! Nice and versatile, it's a solid sipper and ideal to have handy when mixing up some cocktails!
Smooth and oily with notes of cherry compote, buttered granary toast, malt, custard and peach.
Sherried and thick with notes of sultanas, sticky toffee pudding, raspberry jam, Victoria sponge, custard and crème caramel.
Medium, with notes of cocoa, oak and just a soupcon of smoke on the very tail.

- Thanks for nice moments with a glas of whisky
I'm not one for blends normally but I was given a sample of this in a whisky shop in Edinburgh. According to the staff this is the original FG blend which has since been err. "cheapened". Whether true or not I don't know but I like the story. I won't touch FG except perhaps as a mixer but this has real taste. Compared to many blends it has a mouthful of malty caramel and finishes with smoke which suits my usual single malt preferences. A lovely drop and a regular in my drinks cabinet.
There is just too much wood smoke and ash from excessive charring of tired casks. It spoils and disguises the young whiskies that makeup this blend. At nearly twice the price of the regular Famous Grouse I had hoped for an increased dollop of well-aged HP and Macallan. No such luck. For the same price you are better off with one of the genuinely aged premiom 12 year old blends.
The decline in malt content of famous grouse can perhaps be explained by this Money making addition, and it's way better than the regular, try it! Macallan and Highland Park can't be bad.
best Grouse ever!!!
