Combining a splendid blend of single malt whiskies, Naked Malt is allowed to mature in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks. The name refers to the fact that the casks have never held whisky before, meaning that all that rich, fruity sherry goodness is imparted straight into this tasty blend! Nice and versatile, it's a solid sipper and ideal to have handy when mixing up some cocktails!
Smooth and oily with notes of cherry compote, buttered granary toast, malt, custard and peach.
Sherried and thick with notes of sultanas, sticky toffee pudding, raspberry jam, Victoria sponge, custard and crème caramel.
Medium, with notes of cocoa, oak and just a soupcon of smoke on the very tail.

I think this is one of the best value whiskeys for the money. If I had the choice (and the bank balance!) I would drink one of the rarer whiskeys daily (Half Century Blend), or even a 12yr Macallan or Glengoyne...but...this one surprised me at the quality and flavor you could get for under £30 and a definite one to have in my collection to avoid me burning through my nicer and more expensive ones so quickly!
We were in Dufftown last April and the story going around we that Maccallan sent a batch of 21 to the bottler and the vat some other image dated whisky in it. Thus the age of the 21 was lost. Other speculation it was Famous Grouse in the vat. So the batch became Naked Grouse. Note how others describe it. At Maccallan our guide said it happens more than we would image. Don't know if it true but Naked Grouse diffenitly has a sherry finish and a sense of being older. A good whisky epically for the price. It's a good story.
Aren't Glen Rothes and Glen Turret part of this blend, as well?
Very good for a blend. One of the better ones for the price for sure.
I've seen some reviews which suggest sticking to single malt as blends don't cut it. I beg to disagree, I find blended malt an exciting purchase, this one in particular. Hunting out the notes of highland park,(a favourite) and Mccallan a legend, and seeing what else may be in there is great fun, made all the better for this being a really enjoyable malt, try it.
