Look at this shiny addition to our exclusive Master of Malt collection! The special edition single malt Scotch ought to make the perfect present for a whisky-loving father figure. It's labelled Father of Malt, and the whisky within is just as impressive as its shimmering packaging. Distilled at Mortlach in 2013, the whisky spent nine years maturing, with a total of 480 bottles released in January 2023. That's 480 very happy fathers by our calculations.

Creamy porridge oats, yellow stone fruits, fruit-studded sponge cake drizzled with syrup. A touch of minerality and leather furniture follows in the distance.
Oily oak and juicy barley combine gloriously, with notes of malt biscuits and sawdust before waves of rum and raisin fudge and creamy vanilla join.
Cinder toffee, apple pastries, a touch of maple syrup, and heaps of buttery oak, with vanilla, a touch of marshmallow, and soft spices trailing into the distance.

Firstly, be advised that this is matured in a sherry cask ( something that’s not on any of the description or even the label). I’m normally a great fan of a Mortlach but much of the character has been overpowered. I’m not a fan of sherry finishes so can’t really give an honest review.
