Sherry

From Gordon & MacPhail's Private Collection comes an astonishing 1969 vintage Mortlach single malt! This expression was aged in a first-fill sherry butt for oodles of years, until it was bottled up in 2019, with an outturn of 365 bottles. The Private Collection is reserved for some incredible whiskies, and this certainly fits the bill.
Aromatic ginger and brown sugar aromas combine, giving way to rich cocoa beans. A subtle vanilla edge develops alongside succulent fruitcake and roasted almond notes.
Smooth and rich; flavours of ripe forest fruits and fragrant blood orange peel are complemented by subtle traces of white pepper. Cinnamon comes to the fore alongside intense dark chocolate with mature oak.
Long and smooth with lingering chocolate smothered almonds and oak tannins.
