Mortlach 12 Year Old 2007 - Strictly Limited (Càrn Mòr)
Indie bottler Càrn Mòr has gone and bottled the Beast of Dufftown, and this particular expression was distilled in 2007. It spent over a decade in a pair of sherry hogsheads, until it was bottled at 12 years old in 2020. 708 bottles were released for the Strictly Limited series at 47.5% ABV.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Full-bodied and meaty, with oily toasted nuts and leather armchair, with Medjool dates, plump raisin and cooked apple with a helping of cinnamon spice.
Palate
Dark berry coulis, with fig and date sweetness returning alongside mature, savoury notes of old bookcases, followed by a dusting of cocoa and chocolate-covered toffee.
Finish
Vanilla oak tempers white pepper and clove-studded orange, with salted dark chocolate lingering.
