Sherry
A 20 year old Mortlach distilled on the 1st January 1991, this was aged in sherry butt 7706 before bottling on the 11th January 2012. A release of 577 numbered bottles from Signatory.
Cocoa, prunes, kumquats, raisins and maybe even a little rancio.
Sultanas and malt, marmalade, chocolate cake and pepper.
Long and bittersweet with chocolate and spongecake.

Outstanding sherry matured whisky that isn't overly sweet.
Tasted several whiskies before picking this one as a gift; the scent made me think of dark caramel, the taste was smooth and buttery and warm, the finish left me smiling and thinking of chocolate dipped lady fingers. Great birthday gift!!
