Wine Cask
A wonderfully fruit-forward single malt whisky from Tel Aviv's Milk & Honey Distillery and its Apex series. This expression was initially aged in ex-bourbon casks, but before being bottled, it was treated to a six month stay in pomegranate wine casks. As you might expect, some of the familiar tangy, sweet, juicy notes of pomegranates have made their way into the whisky, making for a fascinating expression.
Red grapes, orange peel, dark chocolate, and a smidge of earthy malt.
Honeyed raisins and clear pomegranate influence, joined by whispers of oaky spice and vanilla sponge cake.
Raspberry jam sweetness lingers.
One of the best drams I have ever tasted, beautifully balanced, with the pomegranate cask adding a subtly distinctive edge to the flavour. I'm buying another bottle!
