    Midleton Very Rare 2025

A landmark release from Midleton, the 2025 vintage sees master distiller Kevin O’Gorman and his team dial things up a notch. For the first time in the collection’s history, six different distillate styles have been brought together – a nod to the generations of craftspeople who’ve shaped Midleton’s legacy. As ever, the whiskeys were drawn from the historic A2 Warehouse, where only the best barrels mature under stone and silence since the 1860s.

Uniquely, O’Gorman hand-picked not one but three grain whiskey styles – including a 22-year-old batch made from a barley/malted barley mash bill and a rare 21-year-old grain. Both spent their long lives in refill American whiskey barrels, which gave the luscious sweetness and butterscotch of the distillates space to shine. That grain character is matched by a bold increase in pot still whiskey content, delivering serious depth and complexity.

    Tasting Note by The Producer

    Nose

Opens with sweet waves of caramelised apple, toffee fudge and vanilla, while the subtle herbal and floral notes of freshly picked garden mint and lavender slowly build over time, complementing the woodland spices of cinnamon and nutmeg thanks to the rich influence of the American oak. The pot still spices, and sweet grain character of this intricate whiskey come together, creating structure and complexity while complementing the fruits and oak.

    Palate

Textured layers of sweet honeycomb with soft fruits and delicate herbal undertones. White pepper with a mild hint of chilli oil works in tandem with the nuanced citrus and orchard fruits while the sweet nature of this intriguing whiskey continues to build with decadent flavours of treacle, toffee, vanilla, and sugar-glazed fruits.

    Finish

Rich and lasting. The fruits begin to softly fade, leaving the oak and pot still spices with the final word.
