It's the 2016 edition of the annually-released Midleton Very Rare, an annually-awesome Irish blended whiskey from the eponymous distillery. This was drawn exclusively from American oak barrels selected by Master Distiller Brian Nation (who took over the role from the legendary Barry Crockett in 2014).
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Robustly malty, though soft hints of jam doughnuts and marmalade come through too.
Waxy fruit, still quite malty. Christmas spices and comforting vanilla notes linger.
Apricot, mango and underlying hints of peppered oak.
Absolutely best bottle I have in the cabinet. But sadly it is getting dangerously low. A very special bottle, Irish at it's best
Finest bottle of Whiskey I have ever had the pleasure of drinking. It's almost gone. Sad day indead when the last drops appear.
Excellent taste. Amazingly smooth.
Very well done. From the first drink there was a warm taste similar to a carmel apple. I’ll be buying more of this at the first opportunity
Brilliant. Very smooth. Notes of vanilla and caramel.
