It's the 2016 edition of the annually-released Midleton Very Rare, an annually-awesome Irish blended whiskey from the eponymous distillery. This was drawn exclusively from American oak barrels selected by Master Distiller Brian Nation (who took over the role from the legendary Barry Crockett in 2014).

Robustly malty, though soft hints of jam doughnuts and marmalade come through too.
Waxy fruit, still quite malty. Christmas spices and comforting vanilla notes linger.
Apricot, mango and underlying hints of peppered oak.
I will not be drinking this at all... I am keeping this as a showpiece as it has my cousins name all over the bottle (Brian Nation) Well done cousin....from Adrian

Very smooth with just the right blend of malt and kick.
I tried this in a bar whilst I was originally drinking Jameson Select Reserve. I thought at £15 a shot, this has to be pretty special. It was good, but not as good as the Jameson that was three times cheaper. Don't get me wrong, this was a lovely smooth drink, but it didn't put the Jameson in the shade which I expected it to do. Sorry.........
