A straight rye whiskey from the Michter's Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky. Every bottle of their excellent rye comes from a single barrel, highlighting the quality of their craft. A top choice for cocktails - we're particularly interested in making a Sazerac with some of this!
Werther's Original, dry wood, plenty of spicy rye notes, a hint of blackcurrant.
Dried orange peel and stem ginger, followed by brown sugar, cherry, hickory, cumin and buttered corn.
New leather, caramel, cinnamon, peppercorn, apple.
I will remember the day I first tasted this little drop of heaven. This is truly one of the best Rye Whiskeys I have had in a very long time. It has a nice spicy finish, the kind that will give you the slightest of tickles in the back of your throat, leaving you begging for more. Its strong, but not overwhelming, simultaneously both sweet and dry, fruity and yet earthy. This rye somehow has the achievement of being perfectly balanced. 9/10 I know what I'll be sipping for the Holidays.
After finishing my bottle of High West, Rendezvous Rye I ordered a bottle of this. I love Rye for the dryness and spicyness. Whilst Michters has these qualities, they almost seem diluted. For a £50+ bottle of Whiskey I feel robbed. Creamy caramel and classic Rye on the nose, palate is astringent with subtle spice which tails off very quickly. Disappointing, this is not one to savour.
Really, really impressed. It's a great rye with the dry, spicy finish you'd expect but with a lovely smooth, cloying sweetness to start. This is rich, deep and aromatic and I think it's great. Haven't tried to mix it yet as it's brilliant as a sipping whiskey.
First bottle of rye whiskey tried really good whiskey sweet and spicy with a very long warming finish Normally I just sample Scottish and Irish whisky but looking foreward to trying more rye whiskey and good quality Bourbon
Having tried a fair amount of rye brands, Michter's Rye is consistently my favorite. Very rich, good depth.
