The US*1 Bourbon from Michter's in Louisville, Kentucky, is made in small batches, typically comprised of no more than two dozen barrels. Top quality stuff, brimming with caramel, vanilla and fruit notes, alongside a pleasing earthy quality at its core.
Rich layers of vanilla, caramel, milk chocolate buttons, and buttered corn, with sweet oak char in support.
Layers of buttery caramel, soft peach, and apricot, with a warming touch of nutmeg and pepper mellowed by creamy melted chocolate and oaken vanilla.
Fruity with lingering notes of stone fruits, a touch of apple, more chocolate, honeyed almonds, buttery oak, and balanced peppery heat.
Quite a dry woody flavour for me, I prefer a little sweetness, decent spice but no real complex, wouldn't buy a bottle ( I had a 3cl sample )
First time drinking Michters and let me tell you my next purchase is sour mash, michters bourbon has lived up to expectation so this can only get better worth the price
The aroma was pleasing- vanilla, hints of cinnamon, and a pinch of campfire. Medium body, pretty smooth, but the finish was this atrocious with a cardboard/ paper-like taste filling my mouth. Added a few drops of water which only made it worse. I've read there is much variability in the batches, so buyer beware. I would even call this bottle mediocre, my pals will send this sorry bottle to its grave as old fashioneds or manhattans.
I'm not a massive bourbon drinker but of all the bottles I've tried this is the most disappointing, especially considering it was quite a bit more pricey than the others. I prefer to drink whiskeys neat neat or with ice, but even without anything to open it up this lacked character. It wasn't bad, just bland. I ended up drinking it with mixers just so I didn't have the bottle gathering dust. You shouldn't be paying this much (50 quid a bottle as I write this) for something that is going to end up being drunk with coke. Save yourself some cash and get Bulliet bourbon.
Nose: caramel, apple, baked apple Palate: baked cinnamon apples, burnt sugar Good Price, similar for the makers 46 and woodford reserve lovers Tastes great neat, but a little light when ice or water drop(s) are added
