Nose Sweet phenolic peat, grist, bark and driftwood at first then come warm winter berries, sun-dried tomato and cooked pasta; finally brine surfaces majestically.
Palate Peat, chilli flakes and brine crash over the palate initially, followed by cranberries, pain au chocolat and menthol in a top note heavy flavour profile.
Finish Long and clean with angelica root and menthol at the front of the mouth and ashy peat at the back. The finish is extraordinarily long suggesting there may be some older whisky in this exceptional blended malt?
Overall A complex orchestra of coastal peat. The nose is ripe with peat and brine, the palate is chocolatey and sooty, and the finish is long, clean and palate cleansing. This is what Islay is all about!
