Campbeltown 8 Year Old 2014 Single Cask (Master of Malt)

One for the Campbeltown fans here, and a fab chance to dive into whiskies from the region if you're not all that familiar. This 2014 vintage came to us as a single cask of "teaspooned malt" from Campbeltown, was subjected to a little cask jiggery pokery over a period of three years and then bottled up by us in 2022, with a total release of 372 bottles.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Oily malt with waves of brine and sea breeze. Vanilla and a touch of ginger cake, dried mango, and prunes. A touch of damp leather, cherry chocolate, and toffee apple.

    Palate

Dense, charred oak brings notes of candied biscuits and sweet cinnamon swirls. Burnt brown sugar follows roasted barley, drying herbs, cooked apple and that brine from the nose in the distance.

    Finish

Bright, zesty notes of dried lime peels and vibrant root ginger bring a hearty finish, with salted caramel, robust oak, black tea, and prickle of pink peppercorn.

Amazing dram, best value out there right now.

Bought this after seeing multiple reviews on Instagram. It didn't disappoint. Wish I bought another bottle to take along to my local whisky club as we have many Campbeltown fans!

Extraordinarily great value & Exceptional Malt

I love Campbeltown whisky, it is so unique in its flavour profile, whether peated or not they never fail to put a smile on my face when I nose and taste one. So how does this MoM blend compare? On the nose it has the distinct Campbeltown characteristics of sea spray, salty seaweed, stormy winds & sweetness. Then there is the sherry influence giving a rich fruit nose but with dark chocolate into the mix. Spend time nosing this, it has so many layers. The palate is everything the nose offers & more. Rich dark chocolate with an addictive brininess, rich fruitcake, earthy dunnage…wait just buy a bottle, it will be sold out soon and you don’t want to miss this. And if you are still considering it, why? Look at the price, the ABV & forget the age, this is a Cambeltown (probs a GS)

Great value if a little hot.

Whilst the alcohol isn't at all integrated, it can be tamed with a few drops of water. Other than that, classic Glenscotia and very good value for money.

    Great value, very tasty

Took a punt on a bottle as love a Campbeltown whisky. Put it head to head with the Talisker 15 special release at three times the price in a blind taste and it was recognised as the cheaper whisky, but preferred by most that tried. It’s like a Campbeltown equivalent to the Talisker 57 degrees north. Full of flavour, complex for its age and surprisingly easy to drink. It didn’t need any water despite the strength. Have bought another two bottles as doubt I’ll see value like this again for a while.

    Surprisingly Good

Loads of flavour neat but a few drops of water takes it to another level. Surprisingly smooth for 57% , I find a little orange peel at the end. Would be great in an old fashioned
