    age10 Year Old Whisky

A Secret Highland Distillery 10 Year Old 2014 (Master of Malt)

Bright, fresh, and fruity, this single malt hails from a secret distillery in the Scottish Highlands, and now it joins our own independent Master of Malt collection. Distilled in March 2014, the whisky spent a decade maturing in a refill hogshead, yielding 218 bottles when we cracked into it in August 2024 (without added colour or chill filtration). It's delightfully creamy, with waves of buttery shortbread and vanilla, bread dough, and pastry.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Waves of funky, slightly overripe fruit and creamy grist open the way for notes of yoghurt-coated raisins, banana bread, and lemon drizzle cake. A touch of sawdust and toasted oak nestle beneath.

    Palate

Vanilla cream, rhubarb and custard sweeties, then fresh bread and a touch of savoury oak. Fresh apples join in time, with sweet notes of cinder toffee, milk chocolate, and crumbly fudge.

    Finish

The ripe fruit character carries right the way to the finish, with savoury, creamy notes of oat cakes and toasted oak balanced by sweeter hints of Bakewell Tart, pineapple, and buttery caramel.

    Bright, Fresh, Fruity

I'm new to whisky so don't take this review as gospel but I did my best to really think about my experience and give an authentic account. Right off the bat, I think this was a fantastic find at this price. Nose: ripened fruit, raisins, a very slight oakiness. Taste: sweet and fruity, but with a big savoury influence. Again there's a touch of oak but I'm getting something closer to a sweet & savoury dessert - reminiscent of Christmas pudding I feel. Finish: this is the best part. It's so incredibly smooth, caramel the predominant flavour I can taste here, savoury influence has gone. Makes this one incredibly moorish & a very easy drink indeed. Maybe I'll have a second pour tonight. Bright, fresh, and fruity. Just as it says on the tin (bottle)
