An American rye whiskey joins our own Master of Malt collection. Distilled in 2019, this whiskey spent six years maturing in a new charred oak barrel, yielding 391 bottles when it was opened in 2025 (without added colour or chill filtration, naturally). With layers of toasted pecans, sweet oak, and balanced spice, it's a rounded, mellow sipper, and ought to shine in a Manhattan.
And before you ask, the mash bill is in the high rye style: 95% rye, 5% barley.
Earthy roasted nuts and shells, vanilla hazelnut latte, woody notes of cloves and barky spice, then sweet caramel and butterscotch with a touch of cocoa powder.
Soft and buttery to begin, with silky caramel opening the way for balanced rye spice. Buttered pumpernickel, fresh leather, roasted pecans, and sweet yet earthy oak.
Drying oak, chewy toffee, cherry cola, rye crackers, a moment of peppercorn heat, tamed by malt loaf, and hints of bitter cacao.
