This is the fifth edition of our thirty year old Speyside Scotch Single Malt Whisky. This edition is completed with a new bottle and label design whilst the distillery remains secret and the whisky sherried. A truly amazing aged Speyside.
The nose opens in an explosion of toffee and stewing Bramley apples leading to warming notes of cinnamon, nutmeg and cocoa powder.
The mouth-feel is gloriously syrupy with a velvety texture and sweet flavours of acacia honey and butterscotch leading to tingling mixed spice and stem ginger.
The finish is long with notes of mead, nectar and melted 85% cocoa dark chocolate with the vaguest hint of cumin on the tail.
This thirty year old remains fresh whilst possessing all the complexity you could want from a malt of this age, delicious.
Very good. Very very slightly muddled taste right off the bat, thus no 100% score. I tasted a sample and did not let it breathe, nor did I add water. I'll have to order another sample, or maybe a bottle!
! I just opened the bottle and swirled the first pour in my glass for almost 10 minutes to allow it to open up. After a few drops or so of water, the nose was so similar to a Macallan 30 yr, as only it can smell as combined with sherry casks. It had a smooth buttery feel on the tongue with hints of toffee. The finish was almost like spiced cocoa flavor, which I know will evolve over the course of months when I drink from it. A great scotch for an awesome price! Very comparable to Highland Park 30 year with some Macallan 25 year or 30 year hints.
