Nose: 23.5/25 huge peat reek, the like of which I’ve never come across before;
Taste: 23.5/25 a flamboyant marriage of massive peat and soft honey tones;
Finish: 24/25 wave upon wave of extraordinary smoke…
Balance: 24/25 actually, I lie. There is barely any peat at all, save for a gust of peat reek which hovers unspectacular above the stunning honey notes and then muscles in hardly noticed when no-one’s looking. Those on the prowl for a massively peated dram will be disappointed. Those hunting a very gently, almost covertly, smoked malt which appears completely relaxed with its honeycomb and barley constitution and its dependency on complexity will be delighted. A treasure of a find.
