This 12-year-old single malt from Mannochmore was treated to a finish in a custom-made Palo Cortado sherry octave before it was bottled up by Darkness. Octave casks are nice and small, meaning the spirit within has plenty of chance to interact with the oak, and there are generous notes of sweet citrus, buttery caramel, and herbaceous malt to enjoy here.
Crisp, bright notes of candied lemon, fresh orange, marmalade, vanilla, and citrus buttercream.
Dark, tangy, sweet notes of dried blood-orange wheels and burnt brown sugar, with peppery warmth and some delicate herbs developing in time.
Zesty citrus lingers with orange peel and lemon drizzle, balanced by herbaceous, savoury spice.
