One of the fine offerings from Swedish distillery Mackmyra. This is their smoky, peaty expression, hence the name Svensk Rök, which means Swedish Smoke. It's unequivocally fragrant and rich, with hints of vanilla, oak and even juniper smoke wafting in.
Earthy peat, warm smoke, vanilla fudge and a whisper of citrus.
There's that bright juniper note! Sweet soot, and just a little more vanilla to give it a subtle sweet centre.
Plenty of oak and smoke last on the finish.
Ooh yes, fans of Islay whisky will want to have a taste of this unique whisky.
love the smoke on this bright delight of a whisky. Full flavoured with juniper smoke, there's nothing lacking across the palate. Only beaten for me by is springtime pal Appelblom. Can't wait to see what Mackmyra do next
I was. Quite disappointed. At firts. As it's far from what you'll expect. especially. Considering it's name!! Which is completely miss leading. It's not te be compared. To any islay type of whisky in my opinion. But it's not a bad whisky. I put it instantly away. At my first tasting. Not to be touched for two weeks. After which I decided to give it another try. I also added a drop of water. This time As I know. That it can smooth out the taste. Especially when it's a whisky with a 46% or higher alcohol percentage any true experienced whisky drinker. Knows that. My second opinion wasn't too bad. But it's definitely. More floral and sweet. And in no way a peaty islay comparative. I personally wouldn't buy it again. Because I like a real peaty islay way too much! And if you would like to try something different? I'll recommend. Santiss malt peated cask strength Or smokey old bear from Switzerland.
I was looking forward to this one but found it way to unbalanced and blunt. I actually agree with some comments that the smoke tastes and smells artificial. Sorry Sweden.
I am very sorry but..... Someone gave a bottle of your whiskey to my mother, who was born in Sweden in 1924. In 1927 she came to america. Now being 94 and an avid whiskey drinker, I would like to let you know that everyone here in America that has tasted your Mackmyra Whiskey thinks it is 'Nasty' 'Awful" "Disgusting" . Maybe we got a bad bottle but. I don't like your Swedish Whiskey. Irish Whiskey can also be many times better than Kentucky whiskey.
Artificial smoke taste and a lingering aftertaste of bonfire. Much better offerings of smoked whiskey out there. Avoid.
