All the way from Sweden comes Björksav, a marvellous single malt produced by the brilliant Mackmyra. This expression features whisky aged in bourbon casks, Oloroso sherry casks, Swedish oak casks, and even casks that previously held Swedish birch sap wine! Inspired by the long wait for spring to arrive, this one is wonderfully bright and floral. Y'know, just like spring. How thematic!
Green apples, nutmeg, lemongrass, citrus blossom, peach, vanilla tablet.
Spiced biscuit dough, candied ginger, maple syrup, a burst of nectarine and white grape, leading into more rounded vanilla notes.
Softly toasted cedar and greengages last on the finish.

What a lovely find this is. A beautiful whiskey from Sweden! Sweet nose, smooth palette and a decent finish with a difference.......birch sap.
Helluuuu iferyzeeng, Loki here-a fur unuzeer Vheesky refiuo! Bork Bork Bork! Hurdy Hur, Ahem. My Captor is excited by tonights dram...because it's a Mackmyra whisky all the way from Sweden. And he really likes the Mackmyra stuff. Personally I prefer the doggy peanut butter he gives me to hide the meds that I have to take for my skin allergy. He found out that I learned to eat everything in the bowl BUT the pills...curse him, he's cleverer than he looks, the big lump. Anyway, I have taken a break from killing Raggy Cow and slurping at My Captor's fingers to give you this most important review. So you better be thankful. I mean it's a full time job being this cute and adorafluff. Speaking of cute, I have been given a new nickname that I'm not sure I approve of.... "Spudling" One of the ladies at the Doggy Daycare called me that....and I think it's gaining traction. Sigh So this whisky is inspired by the long wait for Spring, and its been matured in....deep breath....bourbon casks, Oloroso sherry casks, Swedish oak casks and Birch Sap Wine casks.... That's a whole lot of casks. It has quite a floral aroma, fresh apple and peach, a dash of vanilla. Not very strong but light and fresh and airy. It hides the spice. Woof! The palatte is a bit of a Stealth Viking, strong biscuity flavours and wintery spices and a burst of grape towards the end before the finish leads into gentle wood notes. This does a lot very quickly, and without much hint of what it can do from the nose. There's some really fun flavours in there. My Captor says if he only had this to drink until Spring, he would be pretty happy.
