Svensk Ek, or 'Swedish Oak', is matured in barrels made from oak trees planted on the island of Visingsö centuries ago, oak originally intended for shipbuilding.
Sweet and spicy, toasted oak, lemon cake and apple pie.
Darker, earthier spices, cashew nut, toffee. Raspberry and black pepper. Milk chocolate.
Vanilla with hints of mint and chilli.
I found it harsher than any Scottish malt. Very pleasant drink, but much more like a schnapps than a whisky. Sweet and minty nose, Christmas herbs and spices followed by pleasing warmth.
This NAS certainly needs water and patience. I really like it, the spice (cinnamon), the oak, with well integrated sweetness and a pleasant warmth.
This is a new and interesting one. A bit astringent on the nose with some hint of something spicy. More spice on the palate, almost a kind of saltiness. On the finish, some wood, some pear tart. Mostly harmless though not something I would jump to buy.
The predominant scent taste of this whisky are sweet and minty. There's no smoke whatsoever, and nothing dry. Whilst being sweet, it's not cloying in the same way as I find some Bourbons (I'm not a Bourbon fan.) Very distinct from Scottish whisky. The vest I can say about this whisky is, inoffensive and not as characterless as, say, brand name blends.
Intriguing, better with water than neat as it brings out the flavour it has, but ultimately a bit thin....
