Mackmyra's core expression is a light Swedish whisky matured primarily in first fill bourbon barrels but also includes whisky aged in Sherry and Swedish oak casks too as well as some smokier malt, which all adds to the complexity.
Fresh, delicate fruit aromas with vanilla pods. Pine nuts, pine needles, raspberry bushes and mixed peels. Ryvita and Sesame Snaps.
Vanilla cream, custard even and more fruit. Red berries, boiled sweets and rich, warming bourbon.
Spicy oak and apple pie whilst remaining light and nimble.
Tremendous easy-drinking single malt whisky from Sweden.
Such a succulent whiskey, I'm no profissionado but it's easy drinking and with a little water added it's as smooth a silk, so enjoyable and moorish, it's kept on a high shelf and I've never noticed, really noticed till now the little dimples in the side wall at the base of the bottle, I grabbed it this eve and my fingers just nestled into the dimples as I stretched for the bottle and it just clicked, top shelf! the dimples make for easy handling from the top shelf, superlative marketing, bravo!
I mean, it's a nice light whisky sure, but lacks character for what you are paying. Nothing really stands out. I've had £20 whisky with much more character. Probably a good(ish) beginner whisky although there are cheaper (and better) options.
Very drinkable and enjoyable. Everyone I offered it to loved it, and helped themselves to more, finishing off my one bottle pretty quick. I went out and bought two more. Not peaty, not heavy, very smooth and approachable, lots of dried fruits, I do get the vanilla and the spice as well. Goes very well with Chinese barbecued meat (bakwa).
A good whisky. Nothing dramatic, but subtle tones and pleasant warming finish. Very easy drinking.
Very light, fruity, and sweet. Might not be everybody's cup of whiskey, but I enjoy it a lot myself. Makes a unique addition to the collection.
