Mackmyra's core expression is a light Swedish whisky matured primarily in first fill bourbon barrels but also includes whisky aged in Sherry and Swedish oak casks too as well as some smokier malt, which all adds to the complexity.
Fresh, delicate fruit aromas with vanilla pods. Pine nuts, pine needles, raspberry bushes and mixed peels. Ryvita and Sesame Snaps.
Vanilla cream, custard even and more fruit. Red berries, boiled sweets and rich, warming bourbon.
Spicy oak and apple pie whilst remaining light and nimble.
Tremendous easy-drinking single malt whisky from Sweden.
There's a lot of fruit and vanilla, and I like it just because it's Swedish. But perhaps it doesn't match the price tag though? Of course you can drink it as it is, but maybe you would rather use it as a drink ingredient? In that case, it's a bit too expensive and also a bit too tasty. I think the problem is that there's so many good whiskies around, and I don't know what I'd need this one for.
Nose is very pleasing, I get honey instantly with vanilla and after a while sponge cake, custard. Palate with strong custard and some caramel. Quite mellow and enjoyable, overall I'm happy with it.
Smooth and strong at the same time.
Great whisky for people who don't like liquor. I think it's fun, but I like controversy. And light fruit flavor.
Different, as usual from Mackmyra, which is always an interesting experince. Liked this one a lot
