Description

Macallan with a Barbados rum finish is unusual enough. Make it a 35-year-old distilled in 1989, and you have our attention. Blind Summit Whisky took a single refill bourbon hogshead and divided its contents between two finishing casks, with this portion going into an ex-Barbados rum cask. Only 35 bottles were produced at 46.4% ABV, without chill-filtration or added colour.

Nose

Toasted coconut and rich molasses, with a charred-oak edge.

Palate

Dark, rounded sweetness, with molasses and coconut giving way to oak and pepper.

Finish

Long and dry, with leather, black pepper and lingering charred wood.
