A Single Malts of Scotland bottling of 21 year old Longmorn whisky, matured in a single Sherry hogshead. It was distilled in September 1992 and left to mature until March 2014, when it was bottled by Speciality Drinks with an outturn of 293 bottles. A choice dram, with plenty of dark fruit and simmering spice. Nice!

I have been enjoying independent bottlings as a welcome alternative to overpriced distillery releases for some time now, so I had I hope's indeed for this 21-year-old bottle of Longmorn. sadly, for this cask strength release I was left wondering where on earth the flavor might have gone! bracing myself for raisins, caramel, dark fruits and figs I was left searching my palate for something, indeed anything to confirm that I'd bought a 21-year old Cask a strength Longmorn. Alas, I was left wanting. The mouth feel is more similar to what I would expect from a 10 or 12 year at 40-43% ABV. There are hints of spice, such as ginger, cinnamon, clove and nutmeg, but they are mere hints rather than the flavor explosion I expect at cask strength. I will revisit this dram in time, but sadly I cannot say it is one I would buy again based on my initial impressions.
