A satisfying, subtly peated single malt Scotch whisky from Loch Lomond. The distillery is renowned for being able to produce a multitude of whisky styles, including single malt (like the one you see before your eyes right now), single grain and blends. Versatile and talented, those Loch Lomond distillers...
Caramel, oily walnut, a touch of dusty oak smokiness.
Digestive biscuits and ginger snaps. Subtle vegetal notes develop later on.
Diced almond, coffee bean, toasted malt.
£5.50 - £45.27
Another whisky bought for an upcoming charity raffle. The price was right and it has a good pedigree of awards.
I'm in the States (Ohio) where this was recently put down to $17.99 so I decided to pick it up. A drop or two of water seems to open it up nicely, and I enjoyed it at the pool on one of our few remaining hot days. I will definitely be purchasing another bottle or two while it's still available, mainly to use in cocktails/highballs. Are there tastier options? Sure. However, at this price point (if you're paying the full MSRP that might change the conversation for you) it's well worth it.
I had high hopes for this one, but found it underwhelming. I tried it out on 8 guests in a blind tasting with four similar whiskies later and they all picked the Aldi Speyside over this one.
I've been wanting to try this for months now, and I've finally taken the plunge. This is a very good malt, and will easily stand up to any of the big names. Beautiful golden colour, nice thick mouth feel, creamy honey and vanilla, notes of citrus, slight smoke on the nose (smoke not peat) and the palette is similar but a very welcoming subtle hint of earthy peat right at the end. I'm a peat head so this is very much welcomed. For a NAS, this is so smooth. Must try more from LL now!
Good price point, needs the right amount of water to really bring it alive, opens the body of the malt and improves the nose. Complex but balanced on the tongue, great after taste, will buy again. Priced perfectly, its not pretending to be Glenfarclas, appreciate it for what it is!
