Loch Lomond
Peated Loch Lomond single grain Scotch whisky! That's right, heavily peated malted barley was distilled in a Coffey still at the Highland distillery for this one – definitely not something you see very often at all. Following distillation, it was matured in a combination of first and refill American oak ex-bourbon casks, adding a whole host of sweet, fruitier notes to the smoky spirit.
Berry jam, oaky vanilla, and a dusting of baking spices, with a layer of fragrant smoke underneath it all.
Sweet and peaty, with lemon blossom, singed heather, and liquorice alongside ripe orchard fruit.
Crisp malt, and lingering smoke.
Hmmmm. I’m a fan of peat and smokiness but maybe not this one. It’s certainly a bit different and perfectly drinkable but I’m afraid I’m left with a rather unusual (and to my palate slightly unpleasant) petrol like after taste.
Excellent stuff! was unsure at first but with each sip it grows on you. Unlike anything else.
This is simply brilliant if you like a peaty whisky you are going to love it .....natural colour and 46 abv ...it does not get much better as in off the shelf supermarket whiskey I'm not a whisky buff that picks a hint of most of the bull that people can seem to be able to smell ...whisky that's what I smell a bloody good one ...I'll be buying another
Found this in my local supermarket..as fan of peated whisky I love it ...non chill filterd and natural colour also at 46 abv it has a nice strength and all for 27 quid when not on offer. This is definitely a whisky to Finnish the night off with in short its brilliant and suites my pallet to a T , so if your fan of the peaty stuff it's well worth the money in a blind taste you would probably think this was a far more expensive whisky ..get it on offer it's a steal ...
This is a unassuming stoater of a dram - a rare thing, a peated single grain with a depth of flavour that belies its soft mellow hue.
