Single Malt
Loch Lomond
This is an 18 year old single malt Scotch whisky from the Loch Lomond distillery in the Highlands region. After spending 18 years maturing in oak, this expression has developed a complex flavour profile featuring red berries, mature oak, vegetal peat and runny honey. Loch Lomond are renowned for being able to produce a variety of styles at their distillery, including malts, grains and blends. Top stuff!
Old oak furniture and tobacco, supported by sweeter notes of honey'd cereal.
Nutty brown bread with a thin layer of blackcurrant jam. Slight smokiness along the way.
Lingering peat - not too strong, but easily noticeable.
Nose: Sweet fruit syrup with smokey undertones. Toffee Palate: smooth and sweet with a gentle warming. Finish: long, tones of peat, nice and warm. I had it alongside an 18 yr old MaCallen which was not as good for me and for about four times the price! You don’t necessarily get what you pay for with whisky. MK
A very good malt, a few months after opening is the optimum time to sample this. Rich, yet delicate and balanced. Notes of raisins, fruit cake and a hint of smoke. Pairs well with desserts, especially sponge cake! One of the better 18yo on the mass market
Loch Lomond 18 is buy far the best value 18 year old single malt u can buy in Australia. So all those so called experts comparing malts. Compare 18 with another 18. Don’t compare 18 with 12 ,or 18 with NAS. Compare American oak casks. Not mixed or finished casks. Lastly compare 46% ABV. Loch Lomond has changed the Whisky landscape for Age statements V NAS. Hands down the 18 year Loch is KING. Kindly release a 21 or older.
Was really looking forward to this but have to say I was a little disappointed. Not DISAPPOINTED. Just disappointed. Our group tasted it along with a Glenkinchie at half the price and an Arran which had stronger flavours and a Lore. Which blew it away. I realise Laphroaig is the 50/50 but it works for me. I will enjoy the bottle and have just had a dram for a nightcap But was expecting a lot more for the money. Still a nice drink
A bit of fruits, a bit of smoke and smooth as whipped cream.
