12-year-old single malt Scotch whisky from Loch Lomond, who are well known for being able to produce a wide variety of styles of whisky in their Highland distillery. This particular expression was made using the distillery's unique straight-neck stills and more traditional swan-neck stills, and aged in a selection of bourbon, refill and recharged American oak casks.
Creamy vanilla, with a touch of freshly baked apple turnover.
Brown sugar and five-spice. Orchard fruit notes continue, with a hint of yellow plum too.
Quite drying with subtle woody smoke, though still sweet with vanilla.

Paid 34.99 USD. Was a bit let down upon first taste and smell. After 12 minutes in air with a drop of water, it was better but not great. Overall it honestly tastes like someone mixed peach juice and Dewars together in a glass. Too sweet, thick and unrefined palate with a bit of uninteresting peat smoke on the back end. Syrupy and unclean finish on the palate. I grabbed this because it was cheap, but should have paid 5 dollars more for Glenlivet Founders Reserve or Old Pultney 12. Glad I tried it, but wont buy it again. The only cheap scotch I ever liked was Old Pultney 12. When will I learn to just stick with the established brands?
The first time I have ever returned an (open) bottle to the store for an exchange. Absolute swill. An hour later I still have the taste of poisonous cough syrup in my mouth. Easily the worst single malt I have ever tried. It is nothing but bitter oak followed by a nasty metallic, chemical aftertaste which lingers long after its welcome. And I forked out $70AUD for this swill. I would not drink it if you paid me. Be warned...
This is a very good whisky. And it has very unique flavors. However, immediately after opening the bottle, I thought the nose was terrible. I thought something was wrong with it. Upon tasting it, I felt better. It had an interesting flavor (tropical fruits). I decided to give the bottle some time. Now I am about halfway through it (about a month later). The character has really improved. The nose is now interesting. The palate is even better. And the finish is nice and long with a peaty tang. Give this one some time.
Unfortunately I have to agree with the most negative reviews... Strong nose of unfiltered grain alcohol and medicine heart drops, very cringy. Taste is a bit better, some vanilla, oak, (bourbon cask??? in your dreams maybe), aftertaste of strong alcohol and oak... Reading all the good reviews makes me think I got some bad bottle???????
I’d sooner have a case of the clap than a case of this scotch. The price piqued my interest but the whisky was nearly unpalatable. If you’re looking for a cheap buzz I recommend trying Stetson or Brute on the rocks before you offend all your senses with the poison of Loch Lomond.
