Single Malt

Though The Open Championship 2020 won't be going ahead, Loch Lomond has produced a whisky to mark what would have been the 149th Open golf tournament. This expression is a 12 year old single malt that was produced entirely with Loch Lomond's straight neck pot still using a Chardonnay yeast fermentation. This intriguing production process has helped to bring some bright, zesty fruit notes to the fore of the whisky's flavour profile. Following distillation in 2007, this one was aged in American oak casks for a dozen years, before being bottled in June 2020, with 3,000 bottles produced.
Green apple, honeydew melon and citrus zest, with a backdrop of honeyed barley and cut grass.
Fresh pear and peach continue the fruity theme, with a subtle hint of caramel-coated biscuit develops.
Lemon and grapefruit zest, plus some toasty oak.

Probably the best Loch Lomond I have tasted. Has a summer effervescent that makes all the fruits sparkle on your tongue. Just ordered a second bottle as the whisky fairies must have been drinking it when I wasn’t looking!?
