Single Malt
Darkness
Scotland

This 13 year old single malt from Loch Lomond, released under the Inchfad name, shows off a tasty balance of peaty and sherry! Inchfad is the name the distillery uses for its heavily peated single malt, and before this one was bottled up for the Darkness range, it was finished in a Pedro Ximénez sherry octave cask. The tiny octave casks offers a greater surface area to volume ratio than your run-of-the-mill cask, allowing for more interaction between the wood and the whisky.
Chocolate cake, salted caramel and a slowly growing hint of toasted oak.
The palate moves towards red fruits (think raspberry and plum), though a hint of dark chocolate remains. Subtly earthy barley and new leather richness.
Millionaire shortbread topped with flaky sea salt.

Wow, I really don't know what to say about this one. I enjoyed the 8yo whiskey so much I bought this one too. I like peaty but the pungency of the nose on this one is difficult to stomach and takes a while. There is a lovely orangey taste but its quickly followed by the taste of used plasters. It may be a grower but I will have to see how this bottle goes down.
