Peated single malt from Loch Lomond! This Croftengea expression was initially matured in American oak, before finishing in a Calvados cask, imparting delicious layers of cooked apples and farmhouse cider to the heavily peated malt at its core. Bottled in 2023, a total of 324 bottles join The Cooper's Choice collection from The Vintage Malt Whisky Co.
Bonfire ash and soft notes of cured meat support apple chips and toasted herbs.
Juicy layers of cooked and fermented apples with fragrant peat smoke, roasted barley, butterscotch, and pepper.
Spiced cider, smoked wood chips, and a touch of root ginger.
Disappointed by this. I enjoy a smokey whisky and thought the Calvados finish would add a nice sweetness to complement the smoke but all I’m getting is overpowering smoke and little else.
