Sherry
A lovely peaty treat in the form of a 12 year old Croftengea, distilled at Loch Lomond distillery in 2006. The Highlander was matured in American oak casks before it was moved to a sherry cask for its final maturation. After 12 years, it was bottled in 2018 by The Vintage Malt Whisky Co. for the Cooper's Choice series, with a release of 360 bottles.
Wafts of earthy peat smoke, ripe jammy fruits and sherried undertones, with a little fresh hay and cut grass.
Rich leathery notes and more peat smoke, balanced by sweeter malt and a good handful of dried fruits, fruitcake and complex sherried notes, with just a pinch of tobacco.
Bonfire smoke with baking spices and Christmas cake on a lengthy and warming finish.
