Lindores Abbey
Scotland
Single Malt
The third addition to Lindores Abbey's The Casks of Lindores series. This limited bottling spent its entire maturation in oloroso sherry butts sourced from the area surrounding Jerez in Spain, and is a nod to the core range of casks used at the distillery. Bottled at 49.4%, and without chill filtration or added colour, this is a Lowlander full of rich, sherry character.
Sticky dried vine fruits and figs, with dark caramel, oaky vanilla, and a touch of liquorice.
Sherry soaked, aged fruit cake, with warm baking spices, creamy vanilla, and a dusting of dark chocolate.
The spices build, with dried prunes lingering.
It’s rich dark and in my opinion full of treacly sherry flavours..I’ve tried lots of Sherry Whisky but this is my favourite
Dark rich colour, very rich sherry taste. And there's the problem, the oloroso finish. It's a personal thing, as it's a fine whisky, just too dry for my taste, a hint of PX butt would improve it for me, but might just ruin it for someone else.
No age given but a very young distillery. Youth countered by the strength of the whisky and is a sherry taste to be appreciated. A very good sherried dram!!
