The Laphroaig PX Cask is made with whisky matured in three types of cask - American oak casks, Quarter casks and the titular Pedro Ximénez casks. This leads to a flavour profile which ties together classic, powerful Laphroaig smoke and wine-like sweetness. It was originally released for Travel Retail.

This dram had the misfortune to be tasted after the 10yo sherry. No contest really.A bit thin and forced.Might have been different if circumstances had dictated
One of my favourite islay whiskys. I really liked Quarter Qask too, but this is superior.
A friend gave me a glass to sample and I thought it was top class. The sherry is really at the forefront, which surprised me, and the phenolic Laphroaig signature gently underscores it at the back. This is a really, really nice dram, with good layers of complexity, I can't wait to get my hands on a bottle.
Great smooth flavor. Well balanced.
I’ve had the Laphroaig 10 and Quarter Cask, Ardebg, and Lagavulin 16. This is one of my new faves. The signature Laphroaig character but smoother, sweeter, and a darker color. The iodine of the Laphroaig 10 (which I love) is not really there. It’s replaced by the sweeter notes of the Ximenez cask. Delicious with a drop of water
