The Laphroaig PX Cask is made with whisky matured in three types of cask - American oak casks, Quarter casks and the titular Pedro Ximénez casks. This leads to a flavour profile which ties together classic, powerful Laphroaig smoke and wine-like sweetness. It was originally released for Travel Retail.

Disclaimer I love everything that comes out of this distillery But this one is just something else This jewel deserves is place in a safe
Truly an exceptional (and exceptionally smooth) scotch. I am a huge fan of the entire Laphroaig portfolio and this is top of the class. If you savor smoke and peat and welcome a sweet finish, I would recommend this without hesitation. I always (try) to have 2 bottles in my bar because once you start, it's hard to put down.
Such a sweetness right on the very back sides of the tongue is truly a heavenly experience. The peatiness is in no way lost by this however, and is, in my opinion, enhanced to another level of sublime mouth watering greatness. The huge smack of flavour and sensation provided by this expression has not been bettered by any Islay I've encountered, and I've tried most. A truly special drop.
Or maybe you do. But one thing is for sure, there is no middle ground with this baby, people either cant stand it or they love it. I consider myself fortunate to be one of the latter. I tried this over a year ago and nothing matches it. The PX cask is so rich, so smokey, yet so dang smooth, I'll tell you what. If I could choose only one whisky to drink, it would be Laphroaig, hands down.
Very complex. Excellent for who delights smoke Scotch. Cheers from Buenos Aires.
