Created by Distillery Manager John Campbell, Laphroaig Lore is said to be the richest ever Laphroaig! Named after the skills passed down over the generations, this permanent addition to the range is matured in a combination of casks including first fill Sherry butts and quarter casks and is said to contain some of their "most precious stock".
Pungent peat smoke and seaside minerals with a hint of ash and chocolate.
Lively with hints of bitter chocolate, ash and a spicy chili bite.
Short, dry finish with a lingering sweet aftertaste.

Purchased for my husband’s birthday. I had a taster, and whilst I thought from the descriptions it definitely wouldn’t be up my street I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, there is peat and smoke (not normally on my list), but Lore is also surprisingly silky smooth, and the smoke/peat is more of a pleasant, warm sensation rather than what I’d normally liken to being smacked in the face with a bucket of creosote.
very strong smoky smell reminds me of Lagavulin really nice taste, easy on the tongue and you get a free plot of land :)
This is a lovely dram. A complexity of flavours that tickle the taste buds.
peaty and sherry, well combined and balanced. After breathing, much better. Good price and show reasonable performance.
Best Laphroig. Ok I’ve not had every Laphroig, but it is a delicious whisky. I’m not a huge fan of the classic 10, I think it lacks a punch. But this hits the spot, balance all round.
