    Laphroaig Lore

Created by Distillery Manager John Campbell, Laphroaig Lore is said to be the richest ever Laphroaig! Named after the skills passed down over the generations, this permanent addition to the range is matured in a combination of casks including first fill Sherry butts and quarter casks and is said to contain some of their "most precious stock".

    Chilli, ash and smoke=GREAT

Totally agree with mr Murray in his whisky bible: This is - a long side Ardbeg Uigadail - the best NAS you can buy. A lot of flavor: chilli, ash, smoke and a long sweet aftertaste.

    Great simple peated whisky

Tuath glass showing chestnut. The nose shows moderately intense notes of moss, peated malt, and hints of nuts and caramel. The palate shows moderately intense notes of peat and light notes of charred wood followed by moderately intense notes of savory umami and smoked bacon on the finish. After 2 drops of water, the peat on the nose seems to grow weaker. Palate weakens significantly as the peat largely fades away and leaves more umami and saltiness. Prefer this one straight.

    Laphroaig refined.

I personally prefer this to Lagavulin 16. That being said, there are several bottles $20-30 cheaper that I enjoy just as much. Not disappointed I splurged on the one bottle, but probably won't be purchasing again anytime soon.

An oily, sweet , phenolic super combi

Sorry to see a few negative comments which I can not follow at all. For me this is the best Laphroig yet ( up to now it was Brodir ) . Oily, sweet, phenols, sea side brime....all I love in one fantastic dram.

Sadly overall with the price it's a 3 from me !!!

Now this is my third bottle, I loved the first one bought around 2 years ago it was rich and didnt taste young , I liked the second one not as much as first but this one is not the same at all very dissapointed the 2019 bottle is more young and slightly harsher in my opinion but then the next barrel etc could be lovely . So its 5 star for first 4 for second and 2.5 for most recent .Please write a similar article is you had the same experience...
