First released for the Travel Retail market, Laphroaig Four Oak features a marriage of whisky matured in a quartet of casks, namely ex-bourbon barrels, quarter casks, virgin American oak barrels and European oak hogsheads. Somewhat following on the theme from their popular Triple Wood expression...
Roasted coffee beans, almond pastries, sawdust and medicinal peat.
An intense waft of smoke as it opens, with earthy vanilla pod and subtle cookie dough following it up.
Drying, quite spicy and long.
£4.76 - £31.99
The 10 years is 10x better. The only feeling of this one is smoked, it is not balanced.
After buying the 10 year one and loving it I expected to find an even better whisky in this, given the price. Sadly I have to agree with others: less flavour, low complexity, taste doesn't linger. Don't waste your money.
Very low taste level, very dry with the presence of low smoke level. I prefer Ledaig 10. I will never buy this whiskey again!!!
Love Laphroaig but this one dissapoints. Any decent flavor doesnt last long and finish is short/dry
Not a bad drop, smooth and peaty with a huge whiff of smoke that is very pleasant. It is not like the Laphroaig 10 year old which has been one of my favourites for many years , but I was happily surprised how enjoyable it was. I would be happy to kick back and sip on this. I would buy it again at the airport.
