A limited-edition from Laphroaig, this single malt is triple matured, beginning in bourbon barrels, followed by quarter casks, and finishing in Pedro Ximénez hogsheads. The 2021 Càirdeas Pedro Ximénez Cask was originally released exclusively for Friends of Laphroaig. That's the name of their official fan club, or membership if you will, it doesn't make the rest of us enemies. At least we hope not.

Absolutely stunning. Complex but beautifully balanced. Maritime, slight iodine, bon fire, blackcurrant jelly that has been reduced and poured on smoked bacon. Slightly tannic but not bitter. Nice caramelized oak notes and an everlasting finish.
