The 2014 Cairdeas release ("Cairdeas", pronounced 'car-chase', means 'friendship' in Gaelic) was matured in bourbon barrels and Amontillado hogsheads.
Created by Laphroaig Master Distiller John Campbell, it's bottled at 51.4% abv.

I really enjoyed it. I had it at the scotch show first time. When I tried it first I was amazed, to start with great smell, so rich , a bit of dry figs,brown sugar smell...Beautiful! I kept coming back for more, even after Lagavulin this was number 1!
I enjoyed the complex nose for a good 10 minutes before even tasting. SO much going on with this one. Very rich and multitudinous flavours. Immensely enjoyable. One of my top five currently.
All I could "nose" was the smell of smoked Kippers. The after "palet" was all heavy smoke an peat. Unless your into that heavy earthy Malt, beware. Next morning I cleaned the drain out with it, works but now the kitchen smells.
Bar none, the best single malt I have ever had
I bought 3 bottles in 2014. Drank 2. This Whisky is getting better and better. My favourite Laphroaig. Better than An Cuan Mor. I wished L. would produce this Amontillado combination regularly.
