The Ian Hunter Story series concludes here with Book 5, the latest addition to a range of rare and collectable aged whiskies that honours the legacy of the last of the Johnston family to own and manage the Laphroaig distillery between 1908 and 1944. This 34-year-old Laphroaig single malt was matured in first-fill bourbon American oak barrels and Pedro Ximénez hogheads. It was bottled without chill-filtration at 45.5% ABV.
Lightly peaty with iodine and burnt wood notes. Floral green malt, sweet candyfloss, and vanilla fudge, nimble fruit accents of blueberry and raspberry.
Sweet and spicy, with the characteristic Laphroaig peaty reek and hints of cold barbecue ash kiln wall. Salted caramel and butterscotch, roast chestnuts, a hint of peach, dried flowers, and white pepper.
Peaty and malty, with praline notes and lingering sweetness.
