Single Malt

Sherry

Darkness is all about bottling up intensely sherried whiskies, and you can't get much more intense than this 18-year-old single malt from Laphroaig. It finished its maturation in a Pedro Ximénez sherry octave – the small, custom casks are used by Darkness to ensure that the sherry influence is at full intensity. There's heaps of festive spice to accompany the earthy peat at its core.
Salted, buttery fudge, ripe stone fruits, dustings of baking spice, and creamy grist are joined by oily smoke and damp, earthy oak.
Fruit cake spice leads the way, with cloves, cinnamon, and dates backing sweet, juicy peat smoke. There's some fruity funk in the depths, joined by dense dark chocolate.
Leathery old oak and vinous fruits join for the finish, with maple syrup and soft marzipan supporting lingering waves of ashen peat.
