The latest batch of Laphroaig 10 Year Old Cask Strength demonstrates that the Islay distillery is in no danger of running out of peaty powerhouses for us to enjoy. This has all the smoky, medicinal, and sweet notes you've come to expect, and at a hearty cask strength, those flavours don't exactly hide.
Thick waves of iodine peat smoke followed by candied fruit and toffee.
Rich, earthy, and spicy heaps of clove, cardamom, and chilli. Then, salted caramel, blackcurrant, and a hint of liquorice.
Huge and drying.

Very good and typical Laphroaig. Different from Batch 11 but great side by side. Cannot be bought from Costco for £25 unless you prefer the watered down version... Still the best deal from Islay!
I forked out for this and didn't regret it. Honey, salt, caramel, strong peat but not too much, and it packs a punch, as you'd expect at 60.1%. This stuff is really, really gorgeous. I'll be buying this again, (when I can)!
An absolute beast of a whisky. I mean the 10 is good but this packs a serious punch. One of those whiskies where you pour a dram and nurse it for an hour or more, just savouring the many layers of complexity and goodness.
Far too strong to 'enjoy' neat as the kick of the alcohol just hits the back of your throat, but a little water tames the beast to one of the most enjoyable drams I've had. Love the Islay malts and a fine one to add to the collection. Thanks Laphroig!
A tiny splash sorts out Classic Laddie straight away! Needs same amount of water drunk solo.
