The latest batch of Laphroaig 10 Year Old Cask Strength demonstrates that the Islay distillery is in no danger of running out of peaty powerhouses for us to enjoy. This has all the smoky, medicinal, and sweet notes you've come to expect, and at a hearty cask strength, those flavours don't exactly hide.
Thick waves of iodine peat smoke followed by candied fruit and toffee.
Rich, earthy, and spicy heaps of clove, cardamom, and chilli. Then, salted caramel, blackcurrant, and a hint of liquorice.
Huge and drying.

The best I've ever had. made my other islays taste like blends in comparison. a steal at this price.
Possibly my favourite whisky. About as good as it gets as far as I'm concerned. Everything you'd expect from a Laphroaig, only better.
Дыма нет.Торф - та. Немного добавь воды. Сладковато-торфянистый. Классика Айлы. Аромат: торф, морские, корабельные снасти, старая бригантина, пропитанная морем. (Translation using Google Translate: Net.Torf smoke - that. Add a little water. Sweet, peaty. Classic Ayla. Aroma: peat, marine, rigging, old brigantine soaked sea.)
For some years I have not bought Laphroaig Cask Strength because of the addition of caramel. This bottling however is a sort of back to basics without the caramel and showcases Laphroaig at its very best in my opinion.
Nose: Mellow. Normally a Laphroaig overpowers your senses when you stick your nose in the glass. But this version is like a soft caress in comparison. Dry grass and citrus, accompanied with a lovely whiff of the characteristic Laphroaig peatsmoke. Taste: Smooth, sweet malt. Butterscotch and vanilla. Lovely peat. Long finish, where sweet peat linger.
