Released in 2004, this bottling was aged for around five years before being finished in a quarter cask for several months, the size of the cask is quite small, thus does not require such a long maturation. This remains a truly great achievement from Laphroaig.
Oily and buttery nose, with toffee, nuttiness, hickory, bicarbonate of soda, rum and raisin ice cream and zest.
Big rush of sweetness, in fact it’s an explosion of sweetness, with fiery chilli heat, TCP, sweet cereals and a touch of cola syrup.
Medium-length, but becomes fruity, with custard and cigar smoke.

Fully endorse previous review and can't put it better myself.
Extreme whisky like this will always provoke extreme opinion. It is intensely peaty, in fact there are probably only one or two whiskies which could hold a candle to the peat levels here. It isn't all about ppm though, Laphroaig has that medicinal reek that sets it apart and, at 48%, the QC has an alcoholic punch too. It isn't for everyone but it will satisfy the most ardent peat freak. So far, so good. However, for me, this whisky is a little young and woody. At less than six years old, and beneath the prominent peat levels, it simply can't match the maturity of the 10 (much as I'd like that to be 43% abv in the UK), which comes at a comparable price. And the accelerated maturation in quarter casks, which imbues it with intense sweetness, also brings a tannic note that could almost induce a headache. Ultimately I love it for what it is and despite its flaws. It is a unique and worthy expression from a great distillery.
One of best whiskys iv tasted I love aberlour 12 highland park 12 but as a treat in front of a fire at christmas nothing finer than sipping away the night with a good film with your loved one what more do you want.
Excellent dram, almost as good as Laphroaig Triple Wood! This has less complex flavours but is cheaper as well, therefor still 5 stars.
