Released in 2004, this bottling was aged for around five years before being finished in a quarter cask for several months, the size of the cask is quite small, thus does not require such a long maturation. This remains a truly great achievement from Laphroaig.
Oily and buttery nose, with toffee, nuttiness, hickory, bicarbonate of soda, rum and raisin ice cream and zest.
Big rush of sweetness, in fact it’s an explosion of sweetness, with fiery chilli heat, TCP, sweet cereals and a touch of cola syrup.
Medium-length, but becomes fruity, with custard and cigar smoke.

Tried this with a fairly strong cigar, and it stood up very well. After the initial salted caramel explosion, there is an almost anticlimactic smoothness in the finish. Not sure how I will drink milder things after this.
Good for anyone who's taste buds are completely shagged. Had this for a birthday present..........we are now not talking.
Note for the money this one is my personal all time favorite. Its basically fire in a bottle but that fire is a taste of a cold salty coast. Its really what keeps the winter fire going after I surf in the cold waters off the northern California Coast. Its just the measuring stick for me and all the other scotches pale. Not I have not tasted the 400 dollar bottles so I have no idea about those.
Not a fan of Laphroaig until now. Was given a bottle of Quarter Cask and love it! ☺
the best way to describe this is Laphroig 10 with a slightly sweeter nose/palate and a mature finish. had it with stones and at room temp. I prefer the latter. if you like Laphroig, then you will absolutely love this. if you had neither, order a dram of 10 - every run of the mill bartender has it, before paying 50 dollars in the QC
