Released in 2004, this bottling was aged for around five years before being finished in a quarter cask for several months, the size of the cask is quite small, thus does not require such a long maturation. This remains a truly great achievement from Laphroaig.
Oily and buttery nose, with toffee, nuttiness, hickory, bicarbonate of soda, rum and raisin ice cream and zest.
Big rush of sweetness, in fact it’s an explosion of sweetness, with fiery chilli heat, TCP, sweet cereals and a touch of cola syrup.
Medium-length, but becomes fruity, with custard and cigar smoke.

I am an Ardbeg lover primarily, but having tried this for the first time, I have it just a notch behind the Ardbeg 10, and two notches behind the Oogie. The balance between the wood and peat is sublime!
People rate uigeadail, but this is a step up. For the price can there be much better?? And in all honesty having had whiskies that cost twice the price of this one, probably not. There is so much character in this bottle. The balance of flavour is awesome," like taking in an open coal fire, while eating smoked bacon, smothered in pepper, salt and sherry. Admittedly heavily peated. But i love it!! For a bit more though, I would equally recommend the 18, it's equally as rich, a little more complex and a much smoother affair.
this lovely nectar is initially bold and carries on to a pleasant finish. Simply wonderful. Keeps me proud of my heritage.
A intensely peated whisky, but dont let it put you off! The initially sweetness expertly balances the smokiness that comes a after. A very fine dram!
After trying the 10 year figured I had to get this and it did not dissapoint. So peaty and smoky nice and strong, a real man's scotch the kinda drink that puts hair on your balls. Less seaweedy/peppery than the 10 but more smoky and peaty both are great try them.
